We can pretend that making mixed drinks in bulk quantities is only for raging college students, but sometimes it’s really the best option for even the most mature, established adults.
When making drinks in bulk, many people default to things like Jungle Juice for the quick and easy prep time, but if they knew how easy the delicious and classy Moscow Mule could be to make in volume, they’d never choose anything else!
As with any bulk quantity drink mixing instructions, they can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be. For that reason, we’ve included TWO recipes here– one is as quick and easy as you could possibly imagine, the other takes a lot more prep work but yields a smoother more unique Moscow Mule experience. Both are just as delicious as our classic Moscow Mule recipe. Oh, one more thing you can also use the same measurements for every Moscow Mule variation and make a large bulk of those. For some inspiration have a look on our Ultimate Moscow Mule Variations Guide!
Without further ado, here are two recipes for making Moscow Mules in large bulk quantities and at the end of the site we included the best Jugs, Pitchers and Dispensers for that large quantity:

Then it comes to additional tools, one is a good catch to make your life easier and the other is for the authentic Moscow Mule experience. We really, really, HIGHLY recommend you getting a Lime Juicer. Think about it…you’re preparing a large quantity…you really want to squeeze those limes by hand?! We don’t think so. And of course the copper mugs. You make a large bulk but you still want to drink it out of a normal sized mug or glass. If you’re preparing a large amount of Moscow Mule you’re also expecting a lot of people. You easily can simply use glasses you have around the house anyway. But if you want to have the original Moscow Mule experience you will need to get Copper Mugs. We collected our favorite ones right here. Check them out or get these ones with the best quality for your buck.
Directions:
No more measuring cups, precise recipes or more work than necessary. We’ve devised the perfect Moscow Mule recipes based on the standard bottle sizes sold on the shelf, so all you have to do is pour into your serving jug, mix and serve.
By the way, you can give your Moscow Mule your favorite taste by using different Ginger Beers – check out here what Ginger Beer suits your taste best!
Pro-tip: Put the vodka into the freezer beforehand, preferably overnight, to make it nice and cold, and don’t add the Ginger Beer until you’re ready to serve. This helps keep everything nice and bubbly!
The Advanced Recipe For Bulk Quantity Moscow Mules
Ingredients:
- For the basic recipe follow the amount in the table above
- Add Ginger Mint Simple Syrup
- 6oz. for ½ Gallon
- 12oz. for 1 Gallon
- 20oz. for 2 Gallons
- 22oz. for 2.5 Gallons
Additional Tools:
- Don’t forget the Lime Juicer
- And the Copper Mugs!
Directions:
This recipe is a bit fancier, but also adds some new alternative flavors of ginger and mint thanks to homemade syrup being added. We’ve also made this recipe simpler by using full-bottle measurements based on how vodka and ginger beer are typically packaged, so the only measuring and prep work you have to do is making the homemade syrup.
To make the syrup, simply add ¾ cup brown sugar, ½ cup chopped and peeled ginger and 5 sprigs of fresh mint into a medium saucepan and simmer until the sugar is caramelized. Remove the pan from heat and allow to cool completely. Once cooled, strain the syrup to remove the ginger and mint. What should be left is a smooth syrup. This recipe should yield about 6oz. of syrup- exactly what you need in this recipe. Cover and refrigerate until ready for use.
Once your syrup is chilled and you’re ready to make the Moscow Mules, simply add all the ingredients to a large jug, mix and serve. If you’re prepping this beforehand, it’s usually best to add the ginger beer right before serving so the Moscow Mules stay bubbly and fresh. For extra presentation points, serve over crushed ice in a copper mug.
In case you can’t be bothered to mix those syrups yourself, you can also buy them straight off the shelf. This Ginger Syrup and Mint Syrup I already used in the past and hey are great if you want to safe some time.
The Best Jugs, Pitchers and Dispensers For Bulk Quantity Moscow Mules
The taste of a drink is the most important point, no doubt, but also the presentation shouldn’t be neglected. I mean think about it, you invited a bunch of people, took a whole lot of time to make preparations and everything is perfect. But you use some dispenser which is just not very appealing. It just ruins the whole picture a little. Don’t make this mistake and get something awesome. We went on the search and found some perfect Jugs, Pitchers and Dispenser. With those bad boys your friends will be already asking you during the party when the next one gonna happen!
And one more thing. You might have seen those Giant Moscow Mule Mugs out there, which hold more than 1 Gallon. You might think “WOW those are awesome”. We wouldn’t recommend you getting those. The problem is the ice and the shape. If you put ice into those giants it will melt down quite quickly and you will have a diluted drink afterwards. And even if you don’t put ice into it, you won’t be able to pour out the content into smaller mugs properly due to the shape. So the only use for those monsters is to put straws into them and chug the gallon down as fast as possible. So maybe a good idea as a party gag but not as a dispenser for an evening.
Conclusion
So there you have it folks. Moscow Mules are always appropriate. Now you can make them in bulk for your next party. And they go great with a ton of drinking games as well. By the way as the night goes on, there comes a time when shots are simply a must! Make sure to check out our most favorite ones. Party on!
