When the weather is nice and you’re hanging out with friends, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Outdoor drinking games. Duh. Whether you’re playing with beer or with delicious cocktails like a Moscow Mule (favorite recipe + mugs), these games can provide a great time anytime, anywhere!
Here’s a list of our favorite outdoor drinking games for all occasions!
Ladder Golf
Ladder Golf takes a lot of skill and finesse, but as far as challenging games go, it’s one of the most fun!
The premise of the game is to try and toss a bola — basically a short rope with a ball on either end — to land on one of three rows of a ladder about 10 yards away. If you land it on the top row you get three points, middle row is two points and bottom row is one point. First team to 21 wins. You can either play with your teammate on your side while tallying up total points from each turn, or with one teammate on either side and each side tallies up the net number of points.
Sip your beer throughout the game, take a sip when your opponent scores, or shotgun a beer at the end– however you want!
Cornhole
Cornhole is another fun yet challenging outdoor drinking game. The goal of the game is to toss a beanbag through a hole on a platform about 10 yards away. If you get your beanbag on the platform but not through the hole you get 1 point, and if you get it through the hole you get 3 points.
Again, you can play with your teammate next to you while you tally the total number of points per round, or you can play with your teammate on the other side and each round is a tally of the net number of points scored.
Perfect for tailgates, backyard barbeques or the beach!
Slap Cup
Slap Cup is an intense beer drinking game. But it can get messy, so it’s best to play outside.
You take a LOT of solo cups (think 30+), fill them each with a small amount of beer, and arrange them in all in the middle of the table. Fill one cup in the very center to the rim.
Then you start with two empty solo cups around the table, and each cup has a ping pong ball with it. The point of the game is to bounce the ping pong ball into the cup. If you get it in the first time, you can pass anywhere. If it takes you more than one attempt, you must pass the cup and the ball to your right once you get it in.
The game gets interesting when two people right next to each other have an empty cup. If the person to the left gets it in before the person to the right, the person to the left gets to slap the person to their right’s cup off the table. That person must then grab a new cup from the center, drink it’s contents, and now that cup becomes the empty cup they must get their ping pong ball into.
Here’s a video explanation–
Civil War
Civil War is like a messy, high-intensity version of Beer Pong, so it’s best to play outside to avoid a mess. Instead of two players on each side like in Beer Point, there are three, and instead of one side having their own 3-2-1 triangle of solo cups, each player has a 3-2-1 triangle of solo cups in front of them. The game is very simple– rapid fire, and once you’re out of cups you cannot shoot anymore. Last side with players still in the game wins.
Conclusion
From relaxing, slow-paced games to high-intensity, messy drinking games, we’ve got you covered. We hope the next time you spending time with friends and find yourself outside with ample amounts of beer, you think of this article and play some of these games!
